Visualising St Mary's Abbey, York
Personal project
Project details:This project was for my MSc Dissertation (2014) exploring how we can use interactive gaming
to explore and educate about historic architecture. The abbey is an interpretation of architectural plans and artist impressions to visualise what the
abbey and grounds (including the Hospitium) would have looked like before the Dissolution of the Monasteries. St Mary's Abbey was dissolved by King Henry VIII in 1539 and the visualisation
enables the user to explore what the abbey would have looked like at its height in power.
